Sailing out in a traditional outrigger
Contrary to the south coast of Bali, the sea in the North is always very calm. Waves are seldom high, and there are no strong, dangerous under-currents. The coral reef, about half a mile off shore, makes the water of the Lovina lagune extremely child friendly, which guarantees for unconcerned swimming and snorrkeling. Perfect for family holidays!
The traditional outriggers (or 'jukung' in Balinese) therefore are perfect and safe to sail out for the purpose of snorkelling above the Lovina reef, for fishing, and of course to watch the dolphins visiting the Lovina coast around sunrise. |
